The St Margaret Schola will sing Vespers (chanted Solemn Evening Prayer) from 6.45pm, in St Mary's RC Cathedral, Edinburgh (Scotland), followed by Benediction of the Most Holy Sacrament. The Schola was founded in 2009 to promote Gregorian Chant within the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh, and sings at a variety of liturgical events throughout the Archdiocese and beyond.

All are welcome to join the Schola for this opportunity to pray with the ancient music of the Church. Please see edinburghschola.blogspot.com for updates and further information.

Benedictines of Norcia to Broadcast Christmas Matins, Vespers and Masses

by Shawn Tribe

Just a reminder that the Benedictines of Norcia make available their Masses and the Divine Office online for your edification. (Listen here)

Readers will be interest to know that they will be posting their Christmas Matins and Vespers, as well as the Midnight Mass and Mass at Dawn between now and tomorrow.

These will be coming from their Basilica church, and accordingly, the acoustics promise to be particularly good.

[They also now have an RSS feed, which is most useful. This functions correctly with Google Reader, and more importantly - as a Podcast - with Apple iTunes. -- Mark.]

new Gregorian Chant Schola in Scotland

Plans have been made for a schola to sing and promote Gregorian chant within the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh, Scotland. This will be a male choir which will meet on a Thursday evening in St Mary's Cathedral, Edinburgh, for sung Latin Vespers and rehearsal with half a dozen chanted Masses spread among the deaneries each year.

Anyone who is interested in joining the schola or supporting this increasingly popular music of the Church should visit edinburghschola.blogspot.com or telephone 07786 146 456 for more details.
