Deus, qui præséntem diem honorábilem nobis in beáti Joánnis nativitáte fecísti : da pópulis tuis spirituálium grátiam gaudiórum ; et ómnium fidélium mentes dírige in viam salútis ætérnæ. Per Dóminum.

Let us pray.

O God, who hast made this day to be honourable in our eyes because of the Birth of the blessed John, graciously quicken thy people with spiritual joy, and order the minds of all the faithful in the way of everlasting salvation. Through.

The St Margaret Schola will sing Vespers (chanted Solemn Evening Prayer) from 6.45pm, in St Mary's RC Cathedral, Edinburgh (Scotland), followed by Benediction of the Most Holy Sacrament. The Schola was founded in 2009 to promote Gregorian Chant within the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh, and sings at a variety of liturgical events throughout the Archdiocese and beyond.

Præsta, quæsumus, omnípotens Deus : ut família tua per viam salútis incédat ; et beáti Joánnis Præcursóris hortaménta sectándo, ad eum quem prædíxit, secúra pervéniat, Dóminum nostrum Jesum Christum, Fílium tuum : Qui tecum vivit et regnat in unitáte Spíritus Sancti Deus, per ómnia sæcula sæculórum.

Let us pray.

Grant, we beseech thee, Almighty God, that thy family may go forward by the path of salvation, and, following the preaching of blessed John the Fore-Runner, may come in peace to him, whom he foretold, even Jesus Christ, thy Son, our Lord, who with thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit liveth and reigneth, God, for ever and ever.
