IN ASSUMPTIONE B. MARIAE VIRGINIS
Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
1st Class, White
Gloria; Credo; Preface of the B.V.M.

Oremus.

Let us pray.

Almighty and everlasting God, who hast taken up into heavenly glory both the body and soul of the Mother of thy Son, the immaculate Virgin Mary : grant, we beseech thee ; that we may in such wise set our affections on things above ; that we may finally attain unto fellowship with her in glory. Through the same.

Please note: on Saturday 15 August, the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Assumption (Edinburgh, Scotland) will be celebrating its patronal feast day with a celebration of Vêpres de la Vierge (Op.18) by Marcel Dupré. This is an exciting work for organ and Gregorian chant which will be performed by the internationally acclaimed cathedral organist, Simon Nieminski, and the Schola Sanctae Margaritae, a group which performs and promotes Gregorian chant within the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh. The event will not only be significant as the patronal feast of St Mary's Cathedral but also as a significant 90th anniversary performance in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe on the new Matthew Copley organ. Vespers will begin at 4pm and will be followed by a free organ and guitar recital at 5pm.

All are welcome to join the Schola for this opportunity to pray with the ancient music of the Church. This is the sixth of sung Vespers by the new Edinburgh Schola. Please see edinburghschola.blogspot.com for updates and further information.
